Today is Friday!! I have officially completed my first-ever week of J-term. After reflecting on this week, I have noticed how important this experience is. If it weren't for this J-term, I would not get to bond with students and teachers I don't normally talk to. Throughout the first weeks, there have been ups and downs however I have completed all the goals I (and Mr Grisbee) have set. I know my peers have had a great experience so far and so have I, so I think I speak for everybody when I say we are extremely excited for the upcoming week.
On the last day of this week, I spent my time designing the final draft of my shadow box and starting my diorama. Much to my pleasure I not only completed my final draft of the shadow box, but I completed my diorama as well! One exciting thing that happened today was off campus, our group went on an outing to the Texas Art Supply store to gather our materials for our diorama. Before we could even think about visiting this store we all needed to finalize the colors that we wanted in our diorama, after we picked our colors we went to the store and picked out our paper. Although it seemed like a small outing our group was very excited about this and our expectations came to reality when we arrived.
The hardest part about this week happened today, around the end of my project I noticed the majority of my work was just stranded in the middle not supported by anything. I had to think about this for a long time because if I was clumsy and went through fast I would have wasted materials and time. Mr Grisbee helped me a lot by showing me that I could just add a layer behind the image to ensure the stability of the paper. After I fully understood I was able to complete my project in record time.
Today was a great day overall (not only because it was Friday). I finished all of the work that was assigned and I have already started brainstorming ideas for next week, but I think the thing I am proudest about most is how well I managed my time, especially after returning from break. I think for most people it's very hard to return after 2 weeks and I think I did a pretty good job of returning without jeopardizing my sleep schedule or the standard of my work.
For next week I think I could work on making sure that my frame is extremely accurate and does not level any excess paper or glue out for people to see. It would also be great if I could continue this productivity into next week.
