Today was our first day back after the weekend and I came in with a positive attitude prepared to get some good work done. Today was my "testing day" as I called it, and it was basically me experimenting with all my designs. First I downloaded my Adobe design onto my Google Drive, next I opened that same Google Drive tab but on a different computer, specifically one hooked up to the laser cutter. After I inserted my design into the laser cutter I made sure three things were correct. Firstly I needed to specify the material that was being used, following that I moved on to the settings page where I told the laser cutter how thick my paper was, lastly, I used a tool to make sure the laser was not too close to the bed. Only after all of these were true, could I move on.
Many things went well today, I perfected my Fahrenheit 451 design and have started completing my final cuts for my lighthouse design. Because it was a trial and error day I did make many errors many of which were obvious things such as gaps, unintended cuts, and misplacement, however one error I encountered made me extremely surprised. I noticed that the laser cutter was constantly going over the same line multiple times even after cutting through the paper, after doing some investigating I noticed that the majority of my frames have 2 or even 3 layers of the same exact image.
The biggest thing I am proud of today is not giving up and not settling for anything other than perfection. I really want this project to be as good as possible, so being able to make mistakes but also recover and try again was a great feat.
Tomorrow is a big day, I have many goals that I would like to accomplish tomorrow. I would like to fully complete both assignments by tomorrow. To do this I would need to test runs on both once more and cut them with my color paper. Very exciting things coming tomorrow!
