Day 6: Ian A

Today, I came in with a positive attitude, as I was able to test out my designs in a demo. I began the day by downloading all my files and exporting them into the laser cutter, where I would print them out. To my surprise, there were a lot of errors in my file, and I had many retakes. It was frustrating at first because every time I thought I fixed one issue, another would pop up. The lines were either too thin to cut properly, or some of the details didn’t align the way they should have. I kept telling myself that each mistake was just another chance to learn.

Finally, at the end of the day, I managed to get everything right and complete my demo without any errors. Today, although I was distracted by small setbacks, I was still very productive and finally completed the demo for my first project. What was unfortunate was the number of errors in my São Paulo shadowbox, and it took about all day to fix them. However, I was proud of my final product as it came out great, and I can’t wait to show it off. Some goals for tomorrow are to build my frame for my shadowbox and print out my Japanese-style diorama. I’m really excited about the diorama too I’ve been working hard on the details, and I hope it turns out even better than I imagined. Tomorrow is going to be another busy day, but I’m ready for it!
