Day 7 : Gray M

Today was by far my favorite day. I accomplished so many things and even set myself up for success tomorrow. Most of my day was spent sitting right next to the laser cutter. Similar to past days, today was a big trial-and-error day; however, I spent most of my time working to ensure the stability of my structures. After I had cut out a copy that was up to my standards I measured out foam core that fit the edges of my image perfectly. Following that I stuck the foam core pieces on and glued them, attempting to make the foam core not show on the outside of the paper.

This was my favorite day because I did the majority of my work perfectly. In the morning I was extremely productive and in our first block completed all of my test cuts. In the second morning block, I finished cutting out and assembling my foam core and papers. I was extremely happy with the result which motivated me to try even harder on the next cut. Because foam core is extremely fragile I did make many mistakes when cutting freehand. Although it was hard I found a system that worked for me and I eventually got the hang of it.

I am extremely proud of everything I did today but if I had to pick one specific thing about today it would be finishing my prototype as this is something I have been working towards this entire J-term. Tomorrow I hope to complete the final drafts of both projects.
